Guardian Bell for Motorcycles – 316L Stainless Steel Gremlin Bell

A bell you don't buy for yourself. Ask any rider who's carried one for years, and they'll tell you the same thing: a guardian bell only works if someone else gives it to you.

Where the tradition comes from β€” The guardian bell (also called a gremlin bell) traces back to WWII, when RAF and USAAF pilots hung small bells inside their aircraft to ward off "gremlins" β€” the mischievous spirits blamed for unexplained mechanical failures. Returning veterans carried the tradition onto two wheels, and it's been passed from rider to rider ever since. The rule has never changed: it has to be a gift. Buy one for yourself and it's just a bell. Hand one to someone you care about before they ride out, and it becomes a guardian.

Built to actually last on the road β€” Cast in 316L stainless steel with a raised 3-D relief design, this bell resists corrosion, road grime, and the vibration of thousands of miles without losing its ring. Compact at about 1.5" tall and 1" in diameter, weighing under 2oz, it won't add bulk anywhere you mount it.

Where it goes β€” Tradition holds that a guardian bell should hang from the lowest point of the frame, as close to the road as possible, where it can "catch" trouble before it catches the rider. It also works as a keychain or a pendant for a rider who's between bikes.

Who to give it to β€” A new rider on their first bike. A friend heading out on a long solo ride. A veteran, a father, a son. Anyone you want to come home safe. Pair it with a note explaining the tradition β€” most riders have heard of guardian bells, but not everyone knows the story behind the one hanging on their bike.
